A Whole New Ball Game: Welcome To Football Reloaded

Hi everyone and welcome to Football Reloaded, a new blog site and podcast series dedicated to football between 1990 and 2010, a 20 year period that saw great change in the game in England, Europe and indeed the entire world. 


Here's a few things you can expect from the site and podcast. 


1996-97: The Rock And Goal Years 

Every month we'll be turning the clock back 25 years and looking at how the 1996-97 season played out, predominantly in the Premier League but also the race for the top flight in the Football League, the trials and tribulations of the home nations as they begin on the road to the 1998 World Cup and also how the battle for European supremacy is won in the Champions League. 

Get ready to reminisce as the foreign legion converge on the newly cash-rich Premier League and the golden generation of future England players begin to emerge. 

If that's not enough we'll accompany each piece with the number one hits of the time, what more could you want? 


1996-97 was another glory, glory year for Manchester United but we'll cover how the entire Premier League season played out in The Rock And Goal Years.

Remember When?

We'll be coming at your with regular long-form articles looking back at pivotal moments during out 20 year timeline, from Gazza's tears in Turin to England's dismal showing in South Africa with doubles, trebles, invincibles, special ones and miracles in Istanbul in between. 


Arsenal's Invincibles of 2003-04 contributed to arguably the biggest story of our 20 year timeline but we'll cover all the big events that occurred between 1990 and 2010.

The Reloaded Matchday Programme

What better way to settle down for the weekend's big Super Sunday game than by taking a look at classic clashes between the two sides preparing to do battle for your entertainment. Relive golden goals, classic moments, grudge matches and much much more. 


Liverpool and Everton's clash this season will have some extra spice after The Toffees appointed former Reds boss Rafa Benitez as their new manager. In the lead up to their encounters this season we'll take a look at Merseyside derbies from days gone by with the Reloaded Matchday Programme. 


The Football Reloaded Podcast

Every so often, we'll be expanding the output and talking about seasons gone by with fans and players alike when we launch the Football Reloaded Podcast. Coming soon to all good podcast platforms.

Remember When?...A Serie A Superstar Signed For Grimsby

Welcome back to Football Reloaded. If it happened between January 1st 1990 and December 31st 2010 in the world of football then there's a good chance we'll cover it.  As I'm feeling particularly generous this week I'm giving you an extra slice of football nostalgia and throwing back to the 1995-96 season when a touch of Italian flair landed in the sleepy seaside town of Cleethorpes.  When you remember Football Italia on Channel 4, you can probably be forgiven if the name Ivano Bonetti isn't the first that springs to mind ahead of the likes of Baggio, Baresi, Signori and Vialli but don't let that cloud your judgement.
